DMT Purchases State-of-the-Art ROV Pilot Training Simulator

Deep Marine Technology has purchased a state-of-the-art TritonĀ® XLS ROV Training Simulator from Perry Slingsby Systems, Inc. The Perry Slingsby ROV Simulator will be used to replicate ROV duties in support of drilling, completions, installation, commissioning, and intervention activities. The simulator system will also act as a real-time training/mission planning and rehearsal aid for an ROV system, and to allow the testing of various vehicle models and control schemes.

All DMT new hires will be required to log in flight time on the simulator before departure on their first job, which would be part of an initial training curriculum that also includes Safegulf, Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET), and CPR. Additionally, our Lead Techicians currently working for us will also have scheduled course hours to enhance pilot time accumulated offshore.

On the addition of this simulator to DMT, Mike Gilliam, BP of ROV/DSV Operations stated, "By incorporating the simulator into our ROV Operator Training Program, our Clients can be assured that the pilots we are sending out will have experience behind the controls, thereby enabling them to perform work tasks more efficiently."

Other uses for the simulator include familiarizing new pilots with the software control system, as well as, the hardware of the control system including learning about switch positions and vehicle response to joystick commands.
